Rehabilitation Paced to How You Actually Feel

Long COVID is an emerging health condition that follows an acute COVID-19 infection. It occurs in people who were hospitalized and in people who were not, including those whose initial infection was mild.

It can affect multiple body systems, including the respiratory, cardiac, renal, endocrine and neurological systems.

Start With Your Doctor

Before You Start With Us.

Long COVID rehabilitation should begin with your family doctor, not with a clinic.

  1. Speak to your family doctor about your Long COVID symptoms.
  2. Have red flags or other diagnoses ruled out.
  3. Make sure your doctor has cleared you to begin light physical activity and to see a therapist.
What to Know

What You Need to Know About Long COVID.

  • Signs and symptoms vary greatly between people, and fluctuate or change over time across multiple body systems.
  • Management requires a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Rehabilitation must be tailored to the individual, depending on their symptoms, goals and preferences.
10–30% At least 10 to 30 percent of clients will continue to have symptoms 12 weeks after their acute infection.

After contracting COVID-19, many people start to feel better within a few weeks. Some take much longer, and have ongoing or new symptoms afterwards. Those symptoms can change, come and go, or fluctuate over time.

Healthcare professionals have yet to establish a consensus definition for post-COVID-19 symptoms. Other names in use include Long-Haul COVID, Long Haulers, Post COVID-19 Condition, Post-COVID-19 Syndrome, Post-COVID Syndrome, Post-Acute COVID-19 and Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome.

Common Symptoms

How It Presents.

People present with clusters of overlapping symptoms. Long COVID can be multi-dimensional, spanning symptoms and impairments, activity limitations and restrictions on social participation. It may also be episodic and unpredictable, with symptoms fluctuating and changing over time.

What Rehabilitation Looks Like

Rehabilitation Tailored to You.

Long COVID affects functional ability, social and family life, the ability to work, and quality of life. Dealing with that complexity takes a multidisciplinary approach and your own involvement in the plan.

At LiquidGym, our therapists take you through a comprehensive evaluation to determine the rehabilitation plan that suits you and, where needed, recommend other healthcare practitioners to support your recovery.

Interventions that may support self-management of symptoms

  • Activity pacing
  • Manual therapy
  • Breathing techniques
  • Heart rate and oxygen saturation monitoring
  • Education

Balancing activity with rest, rather than pushing through it. Our therapists can play an important role in balancing activity with rest to support recovery, and in considering factors beyond physical activity alone. Treatment also addresses longer-term impacts including psychosocial needs, wellbeing and re-engaging with your community.

How Long COVID Is Treated Here
