A physiotherapy clinic is only as good as the people in it. Ours are clinicians, researchers, trainers and coordinators who between them have built the aquatic therapy programmes now used well beyond Ottawa.
DPT, BScHK
Clinic Director
Lindsay has been part of the LiquidGym team since August 2014, growing from a treating physiotherapist into Clinic Manager and now Clinic Director. She provides clinical leadership and oversight to the team, and maintains the standards of patient care that have been central to LiquidGym’s approach. Over the past eight months she researched and developed the Aquatic Therapy Clinician Certification Level 1 and Level 2 programmes.
Those certification programmes take LiquidGym’s years of practical aquatic therapy experience and turn them into comprehensive education and training for rehabilitation professionals.
Lindsay completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at D’Youville University in Buffalo, New York, after a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph. She then spent a year in the United States as a travel physiotherapist, working across private practice, hospital and long-term care settings, before moving to Ottawa and joining LiquidGym in 2014.
Throughout her career she has stayed committed to individualized, patient-centred care — treatment tailored to each person’s needs, abilities and goals.

BS Physical Therapy
Physiotherapy Resident
Micah joined LiquidGym as a Rehab Specialist and now practises as a Physiotherapy Resident while completing the final requirements for full licensure in Ontario. She earned her Physical Therapy degree in the Philippines and practised there as a licensed Physiotherapist before moving to Canada, bringing a background in manual therapy, sports rehabilitation, aquatic therapy, injury prevention and therapeutic exercise.
Her experience includes working with elite athletes, among them members of the Philippine National Weightlifting Team preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In Canada she completed the Heart Wise Exercise Training Course and Exam, and earned a Graduate Certificate in Sport Business Management from Algonquin College.
Alongside her clinical role, Micah is Manager of Development for the Water Exercise Institute, leading the development of water-based exercise programmes and managing an international development team. She is also Founding President of the Philippine Aquatic Therapy Association, supporting aquatic therapy education in the Philippines, and hopes to bring ATI there and establish aquatic therapy as a gold standard.
Outside work, Micah enjoys camping, time with Kevin and the cats, making checklists and — perhaps unusually — grocery shopping.
Say hi to Sadie
BSc KIN, RMT
Rehab Specialist and Massage Therapist
Sydney works one-to-one with patients in the water, helping them perform their prescribed aquatic therapy exercises, supporting proper movement and technique, and reporting progress back to the physiotherapy team. She is also completing registration as a Massage Therapist in Ontario.
She completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Queen’s University in 2020 and an advanced diploma in Massage Therapy at Algonquin College in 2025, and is awaiting final approval to become a Registered Massage Therapist. She has recently obtained her ATI Aquatic Therapy Clinic Level 1 Certification, and completed the Heart Wise Exercise Training Course and Exam, strengthening her knowledge of safe exercise for people with cardiovascular and other health considerations.
With her background in kinesiology and massage therapy, Sydney brings a strong understanding of movement, exercise and hands-on care. She is developing her knowledge in lymphatic care, post-surgical rehabilitation, scar tissue therapy and TMJ disorders.
Sydney is a passionate animal lover, holding certifications in Canine Massage Therapy and Canine Obedience, and hopes to become certified in Equine Massage Therapy. Outside work she trains her dog and is an avid reader. You may also see her with Sadie, her service dog in training — a black poodle who has become another friendly face around LiquidGym.
Diploma, Office Administration — Health Services
Patient Experience Coordinator
Karen brings nearly twenty years of experience in childcare, and the communication, organisation and interpersonal skills that came with it. She returned to study to complete her diploma in Office Administration — Health Services, and now supports patients throughout their experience with the clinic.
She enjoys meeting new people and learning about different cultures and backgrounds, and takes pride in helping people feel welcome and comfortable. Her goal is to make every interaction as positive and seamless as possible.
Originally from Bonnechere, near Pembroke, Karen grew up surrounded by nature and an active lifestyle. Swimming, hiking, camping and time outdoors were an important part of her childhood and remain so today. She is a proud mother of two and enjoys sharing the outdoors with her family.
BSc Biology
Patient Experience Coordinator
Morleigh is a recent graduate of Carleton University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Honours Biology with a Minor in Neuroscience and was awarded the Senate Medal of Academic Excellence. She has a strong interest in rehabilitation and human performance, and a passion for helping people through recovery.
Outside LiquidGym, Morleigh conducts biomechanics research through Carleton University’s Human Performance Lab, looking at balance and movement following concussion. Her current work uses force-plate posturography and electromyography to explore how objective measures of movement and muscle activity can improve concussion assessment, and she has assisted with projects using eye-tracking tasks for concussion evaluation. She hopes to continue in clinical research focused on brain injury — and is happy to be asked about it.
In her spare time she plays indoor and beach volleyball and soccer. Though a human biologist by training, she takes an interest in plant and animal biology, and enjoys birding and identifying plants and fungi out on a hike.
BSc Mathematics, CanFitPro CPT
Veterans Affairs and Special Ops
Sherry has been part of LiquidGym from the very beginning. As the clinic’s first employee she has seen it from every angle — joining as a receptionist, becoming Office Manager, and expanding into work as a Certified Personal Trainer with clients on land and in the water.
Although Sherry officially retired a few years ago, she has never really left. She supports the organisation through special projects, manages the Veterans Affairs Programme, and assists with monthly financial reconciliation and patient accounts. Her knowledge of LiquidGym’s administrative and front office systems makes her an invaluable resource.
She graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and is a CanFitPro Certified Personal Trainer, with additional training in Functional Movement Systems, Heart Wise Exercise, TRX Suspension Training and NCCP Coaching Certification.
Outside LiquidGym, Sherry has a lifelong passion for running. She has competed provincially and nationally, and twice placed second in her age category at the World Masters Half Marathon Championships, with a marathon personal best of 2:54:50. She is also an avid traveller.
WEI and ATI Developer
Avro supports the continued development of LiquidGym’s aquatic therapy and water exercise initiatives. Over the past year she has played an important role in building the Water Exercise Institute, working as a director and model during filming of the WEI exercise sessions.
Behind the scenes, Avro has been instrumental in building the WEI video library — establishing the video structure, session classifications and data organisation within the platform, and creating a system that makes a growing library easier to manage and navigate. She has also coordinated the proof-watching and quality review of hundreds of videos to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout.
She is currently studying Nursing at St. Lawrence College, and is looking forward to combining her healthcare knowledge with her experience in aquatic therapy and exercise. As a lifeguard and private swim instructor, water has always been an important part of Avro’s life.
BSc Rec/Phys Ed
Co-Founder and CEO
Karen has always believed that healthcare and rehabilitation should keep evolving. From the beginning of LiquidGym her focus has been not only on delivering exceptional patient care today, but on looking ahead — identifying new ideas, developing programmes and finding better ways to bring aquatic therapy to more people.
Karen co-founded LiquidGym in 2013, bringing together a background in physical education, adapted aquatics, business development and entrepreneurship. A graduate of Acadia University’s Physical Education and Recreation programme, her early career included developing aquatic programmes throughout Atlantic Canada and creating the Adapted Aquatics programme for the Canadian Red Cross in New Brunswick. She has since founded and operated several businesses and worked extensively in business consulting.
With a leadership and clinical team managing day-to-day operations, Karen now focuses on the future of LiquidGym and of aquatic therapy — in particular the development and expansion of Aquatic Therapy Innovations, the Aquatic Therapy Clinician Training Programme and the Water Exercise Institute.
Together those initiatives take the knowledge, systems and experience developed with patients at LiquidGym and make them available far more widely. ATI gives clinics the framework and business systems to introduce and grow aquatic therapy services. The Clinician Training Programme gives rehabilitation professionals the education and practical knowledge to incorporate aquatic therapy into patient care. And WEI provides structured water exercise programming for anyone with access to a pool.
Karen’s focus is now on the partnerships needed to take these programmes into markets across Canada and internationally — helping clinics and rehabilitation professionals bring aquatic therapy to more patients and communities.

Irene has played an important role in building the business systems, teams, processes and innovative thinking behind LiquidGym’s growth. Today she works more behind the scenes, focusing on what comes next — identifying opportunities to use innovation, technology and artificial intelligence to improve how LiquidGym, ATI and WEI operate and deliver their programmes.
Beyond LiquidGym, Irene is an AI Strategy and Systems Advisor and Business Strategist, helping organisations streamline processes, strengthen their business systems and prepare for a rapidly changing landscape. Through Launchpad Prime Inc. she works with businesses to identify practical opportunities for AI across operations, administration, marketing, sales, customer service and human resources.
She also brings extensive experience in business coaching, education, leadership development and operational improvement, including her work coaching clinic owners through Clinic Accelerator — a background that has given her an understanding of both the challenges of running a healthcare business and the importance of building strong, scalable systems.
Looking ahead, Irene’s focus is on bringing new ideas, technologies and opportunities into the organisation, with a practical, human-centred approach to innovation.
